About Amanda Skidmore, MPH, CPE
Amanda's interest in body mechanics and ergonomics began with her own experience as a classical musician managing pain. She discovered that by adjusting her playing technique, she could not only reduce her risk of injury but also enhance her musical performance, setting her on a path that has defined her career ever since.
She first trained in Aston Kinetics, a somatic education system, becoming a Certified Aston-Patterning Practitioner in 2004 and applying its ergonomic and movement principles with clients for 15 years before deciding to pursue formal ergonomic training. She then completed the Human Factors/Ergonomics Certificate Program at the University of California Center for Occupational and Environmental Health and has held board certification through the Board of Certification in Professional Ergonomics (BCPE) since 2022. She also holds a Master of Public Health from the Colorado School of Public Health and a Bachelor's and Master's in Horn Performance from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Northwestern University, respectively.
At the core of Amanda's work is a belief that education drives lasting change. As a musician, she experienced firsthand how small, intentional changes in technique can have profound results, a perspective that informs how she guides clients through their own process of change. Rather than prescribing solutions, she helps clients build on what they already know and do, combining her somatic training and ergonomic expertise to deepen their understanding of how their bodies move and adapt, empowering them to maintain improvements long after their sessions end.
Amanda lives and works in Denver, Colorado, where she maintains a private consulting practice.
